You can build a list of your sites to use in Google Ad Manager. This article explains how to add and manage sites in Ad Manager for standard publishers, MCM parent publishers and MCM child publishers.
On this page:
- Before you begin
- Add new sites
- Add a Google Publisher Tag to your site
- Track your site status
- Move sites to a child publisher
- Delete sites
Tip: For Multiple Customer Management (MCM) parent publishers
- Add sites you own with the following steps. To add child sites, visit Add child sites. Be sure your sites comply with the Ad Manager Partner Guidelines.
- MCM parents need to add child sites before they can serve. However, there’s no need to add owned and operated (O&O) sites beforehand.
- MCM Manage Account (MA) children who have obtained Ad Exchange through the self-service flow need to add sites before they can serve.
Before you begin
Managing sites differs depending on your account type. Follow the specific path that applies to your network's inventory:
Standard publishers (owned and operated)
- Follow the instructions to add your sites.
- Deploy a 1×1 Google Publisher Tag (GPT) to trigger the crawler.
- Check your status under the "AdSense approval" and "Track your site status" columns.
-
MCM parent publishers (managed inventory)
Follow these instructions to manage your owned sites. Note: You don't need to add your owned and operated (O&O) sites beforehand to serve campaigns, but you must register them to use Privacy & messaging. To manage partner sites, refer to Add child sites to Ad Manager. -
MCM child publishers
If you’re a Manage Account (MA) partner who signed up for self-service Ad Exchange, you need to follow these steps to add your domains before you can serve ads.
Add new sites
- Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
- Click Inventory, and then Sites.
- Click New site.
- Under "Site URL," enter your site URL (such as
example.com). Click Save.
Once a site has been added, you can add subsites.
Add a Google Publisher Tag to your site
Create a GPT and place the tag anywhere on the page of the site you are adding. The tag can be 1×1 pixel, but it needs to be placed on the live site, not on a test page. The GPT tag must be called immediately upon page load, without requiring additional events to trigger the call.
Check your AdSense approval status
Sites that have been approved by AdSense have a "Yes" in the "AdSense approval" column. If your site has been submitted but not approved, it can still be used in Privacy & messaging.
- Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
- Click Inventory, then Sites.
- On the table, review the "AdSense approval" column for the site.
Track your site status
Site management can be used to create messages with Privacy & messaging.
After you add your site, it will be reviewed for compliance with Ad Manager policies. The status of your site will be visible in the "Privacy & messaging" column as one of the following:
- Needs attention: You need to fix some issues.
This status appears if your site has policy violations, low-value content, or issues with site ownership verification (ads.txt). In Ad Manager, navigate to Admin, then the Policy center, and click the site to review specific issues and fixes. - Getting ready: Your site is currently under review. This process usually takes just a few days but could take up to 2-4 weeks.
- Ready: Your site has been approved and is eligible to serve ads.
- You can target user messages to any site added to Ad Manager, regardless of its review status. However, those published messages only appear live on your site once eligible ads begin serving.
- (Alternative fallback): You can remove all the ad code from your site. If you remove all ad code, you don’t need to request a review because you’re choosing not to display ads. You can get your site reviewed in the future if you reinstate the ad code and address any policy violations. Within 7-10 days of removing the ad code, the policy issue will no longer be displayed in the Policy center, but will remain in our system.
Move sites to a child publisher
This feature is available for MCM. For instructions, go to Add child sites to Ad Manager.

- Under "Actions," click the trash can icon
to delete your site.
- Click Continue to confirm.
