Welcome to the Google Ad Manager release notes, your destination for staying informed about our latest platform updates, system enhancements, and new feature rollouts.

These announcements are usually published every other Monday, so we recommend bookmarking this page and checking back bi-weekly to see what's new. For previous releases, you can review the archive

Manage inventory

Create and manage custom format rules by inventory type and format

We have streamlined the creation flow for format rules and added more filtering options for viewing your rules. Rolling out this week, when you create a new format rule, you can select the inventory type and format. Depending on your selections, additional controls become available to help you manage your inventory more effectively. This update follows the recent renaming of "Size settings" to "Format settings." To explore these new options, visit Programmatic inventory rules for formats.

Traffic and deliver ads

Publisher-managed creatives for Programmatic Guaranteed

Ad Manager now supports publisher-managed creatives for programmatic deals transacted through Amazon DSP. This allows you to host and serve assets directly for Programmatic Guaranteed and CPM Sponsorship deals, enabling high-impact formats like mobile interscrollers and rewarded video. By shifting hosting to your ad server, you can eliminate DSP-side constraints and streamline deal workflows. No action is required. Learn more about publisher-managed creatives.

GPT auto-refresh on back/forward cache (bfcache)

From September 8, Google Publisher Tag (GPT) will automatically refresh actively viewed ad slots when a user returns to a page via back/forward cache (bfcache) navigation. By automatically refreshing these slots, publishers will be able to seamlessly recapture impressions and grow ad revenue. Publishers wishing to disable automatic refreshes on back/forward cache navigation will be able to do so via the GPT AutoRefreshConfig API.

Report and optimize

Sunset of the legacy Reports tool

Over the next few weeks, reports in the legacy Reports tool will stop generating. While you can still access the legacy Reports landing page to migrate your reports to Interactive reports, the reports themselves will no longer run in the Reports tool. If a report can’t be migrated (such as those with deprecated metrics or a time range older than three years), you can still view the report definition on the Reports tool landing page to recreate it manually in Interactive reports. Learn more about the migration to Interactive reports.

Analyze performance with the new web interstitial trigger type dimension

The new "Web interstitial trigger type" dimension is now available in Interactive reports. This feature shows which specific triggers are driving performance for your web interstitial ads, providing deeper insights into user engagement. Learn more about web interstitials.

Manage network settings

Google publisher data co-op

As an Ad Manager publisher, you can now participate in the Google publisher data co-op to maximize your performance. By contributing network data in a highly aggregated format, you can unlock access to exclusive Ad Manager monetization features and premium buyer demand.

Participation helps you to attract new ad budgets, benefit from increased demand from agencies and curators, and expand the reach of your off-property campaigns with audience extension features such as lookalikes (coming soon). Note that audience extension is currently limited to Alpha participants.

You can view and manage your participation in the Google publisher data co-op by navigating to "Admin," and then "Global settings." The setting becomes active (and co-op data utilization begins) on August 24, 2026.

Coming soon

Access levels for shared Interactive reports
When you share an Interactive report, you’ll soon be able to give the recipient either "Viewer" or "Editor" access. Editors can share changes they make to the report by publishing their updated version.

Ad podding for mobile app inventory
Ad Manager is launching ad podding, a new optimization designed to increase competition and drive higher revenue for your mobile app inventory. This feature allows multiple ads to be combined and compete collectively for a single ad placement. By default, ad podding will be automatically enabled for all inventory where High Engagement Ads are currently active. Publishers have the flexibility to manage these preferences for specific segments of their inventory at any time by navigating to Inventory, then Inventory rules, then Format settings. Learn more about ad podding.
