You can specify the languages in which ads can appear on your app or site. Ad Exchange uses signals to determine the language of an ad, and filters out any ads that don't correspond to the languages you've selected.
Language filtering operates on a "best effort" basis. This means that, while Ad Exchange attempts to detect the ad's language, we cannot ensure that the language detection will be perfectly accurate. You must take into consideration the revenue loss associated with preventing most languages from serving on your website.
Language opt-ins apply only to indirect transactions: First Look, open auctions, private auctions, and legacy private deals.
Get started
- Sign in to Google Ad Manager.

Navigate to Brand safety, then Protections.
Is your menu different? This navigation is being updated in phases. Learn more about what's changing and where to find pages during the transition. - Click New protection, and then Ad content.
- Name your opt-in.
- From the "Inventory type" dropdown, select the medium on which you want to allow the display of ads, such as Mobile In-App.
- Target the inventory the opt-in will be applied to.
- If you select Only protect specified inventory, click Add targeting and make your targeting selections.

- Under "Opt-ins," click Add next to "Languages."
- Select the checkbox next to the languages you want to allow.
- Ads will serve only to the selected languages, and all other languages will be blocked.
- Click Update.
- Add more protections as needed and click Save.
