Benefits of product data
- Automated ad creation: Google uses your data to automatically create ads for campaigns focusing on products.
- Relevant matching: Attributes allow Google to match your products to relevant customer searches.
- Targeting precision: Unlike Search campaigns that rely on keywords, Shopping and Performance Max campaigns rely on attributes like condition and price to describe what you’re selling.
How product data works
Unlike Search campaigns that rely on keywords, Shopping and Performance Max campaigns rely on your product attributes. You define attributes, such as "condition [condition]" "availability [availability]," and "price [price]", to accurately describe what you’re selling.
Google uses these attributes to understand what you sell and show your ads to people searching for those exact items.
Get started: Eligibility and requirements
To use product data in your campaigns, you must complete 2 steps:
- Set up a feed containing all your product information to a Google Merchant Center account.
- Link your Google Merchant Center account to your Google Ads account.
Keep in mind: Data quality best practices
It’s important to accurately describe your products to help customers find your items, and you should review Shopping ads policies to understand requirements for your specific product category.
We recommend updating your product data frequently, or whenever inventory changes, to ensure ads reflect accurate stock and pricing. Learn more about best practices for data quality.
