4. Set up your devices and create a home

Once your environment meets the initial requirements, you can begin connecting your devices. It’s recommended to keep your mobile device close to your speaker or display throughout the setup process.

1. Plug in your device.
   • If the device has been used before, refer to Factory reset your Google smart speaker or display.
2. On your phone or tablet:
   • Open the Google Home app .
   • If you haven’t set up a home, tap Add Home .
3. From the Home tab, tap Add Device Search for device .
   • If a device has a QR code, from the Home tab, tap Add Device Scan QR code .
4. Choose the home you want to add your device to.
5. Tap Next.
   • To add a device to a new home, tap Add home and complete the steps to create a new home.
6. The app looks for nearby devices. When prompted, select the device you want to set up.
7. Follow the in-app steps.

If the app can’t find your device, refer to the Google Home and Nest Help Center.

Some devices have their own apps, and many of these can sync with the Google Home app. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to link these services to get the most out of your device.
